What is HNBR?

HNBR is a highly saturated elastomer that is obtained by hydrogenation of nitrile rubber (NBR). Compared with NBR, HNBR contains a small amount or no carbon-carbon double bonds in its molecular structure. While retaining the oil and wear resistance of NBR, HNBR also has excellent heat and oxygen aging resistance, ozone resistance, radiation resistance, chemical resistance (acid, alkali, methane, refrigerant, hydrogen sulfide), and good dynamic performance. HNBR is a special rubber with excellent comprehensive properties and is a national strategic material.

HNBR exhibits outstanding heat and air aging resistance and can be used for a long time in the temperature range of -40°C to 150°C. Its mechanical properties remain quite high even at high temperatures. HNBR maintains good performance with various industrial oils/including additives and fuel oils, even under extremely harsh conditions. It also has good wear resistance even under the most severe conditions and exhibits good resistance to ozone and sulfur hydrogen. HNBR has low-temperature performance, and the Tg of ordinary HNBR is 7-10°C lower than that of NBR.

Currently, HNBR is widely used in aerospace, the automotive industry, petroleum drilling, mechanical manufacturing, textile printing, and other industries. It is commonly used in automotive fuel system components, automotive timing belts, drilling protectors, oil well packer cups, ultra-deep well submersible pump cable sheaths, fuel injection system seals, directionally drilled oil pumping stator motors, marine oil drilling platform supporting hoses, aerospace sealing components, tank track liners, foam shock-absorbing materials, nuclear industry sealing components, hydraulic pipes, air conditioning sealing products, textile printing rubber rollers, and other fields.

• Collaborated with Beijing University of Chemical Technology to develop a hydrogenated nitrile rubber preparation technology with fully independent intellectual property rights.

• Relying on the hydrogenation R&D platform, domestic substitution has been achieved.
• 3000 tons of HNBR production capacity and 1000 tons of rubber compounds.
• Mainly used in fields such as aerospace, rail transit, automotive industry, oil drilling, mechanical sealsnew energy batteries, etc.
