Polyphenylene oxide (PPO) is a highly versatile polymer with excellent comprehensive properties. It has a higher hardness than nylon, polycarbonate (PC), and polyoxymethylene (POM), and a small creep ratio. PPO also exhibits excellent hydrolysis resistance, low humidity absorption, and good size stability. It has a better heat resistance, with a long-term use temperature of up to 120℃. Furthermore, PPO has the lowest thermal expansion coefficient among plastics, which is close to that of metals. However, one of PPO's setbacks is its challenging molding due to its low melting flow, and it requires modification to serve as an engineering plastic. That's where blending PPO with polyamide (PA) comes in.

Blending PPO with PA enhances the processing and molding qualities of PPO. In addition, their impact strength and fracture elongation both see significant improvements. Polyamide co-blends that can be used with PPO include PA6, PA66, PA-MXD6, and PA12. PPO/PA is the fastest developing and most diverse group of PPO multi-component polymers, following PPO/PS.

The unique properties of PPO and PA combine to create a material with better performance than each on their own. PPO/PA blends have exceptional thermal and electrical insulation, good dimensional stability, and excellent chemical resistance. PA's high toughness, wear resistance, and flexibility blend with PPO's impact and temperature resistance, creating a composite that exhibits an impressive range of engineering qualities.

The application areas of PPO/PA Granules are extensive and diverse. They can be used in electronic and electrical components, such as IC sockets, switches, and relays. PPO/PA blends exhibit excellent dimensional stability and heat resistance, making them ideal for automotive and transportation applications. These can range from fuel systems to electrical housings and exterior body panels.
