Thermoplastic Vulcanizate (TPV) is a type of thermoplastic elastomer that has excellent properties like elasticity, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and weatherability. TPV is increasingly being used as a material for construction sealant strips.
The processing of TPV for construction sealant strips is relatively simple. The first step is the melting of the TPV pellets in a conical twin-screw extruder. The extruder uses heat and pressure to melt and mix the TPV pellets. The mixing process results in the desired physical properties of the TPV.
Next, the extruded TPV is fed into a die that shapes it into the required cross-section for the sealant strip. The TPV is then cooled and stretched, creating the final product's desired size and shape.
