Polyvinyl Chloride, commonly known as PVC, is a widely used synthetic plastic polymer. It is available as a white powder with a density ranging from 1.35 to 1.46 g/cm³ and a bulk density of 0.4 to 0.65 g/cm³. PVC is insoluble in water, alcohol, and gasoline. One of the key characteristics of pure PVC resin is that its decomposition temperature is very close to its plasticization temperature. When heated to 130-140°C, it decomposes, releasing hydrogen chloride gas. This makes it impossible to process pure PVC into plastic products without the addition of various additives. These additives modify the physical and mechanical properties of PVC, allowing it to be manufactured into hard, semi-rigid, and soft products depending on the amount of plasticizer added.
