PP Physical Modification

• Filling modification

In the process of PP molding, silicate, calcium carbonate, silica, cellulose, glass fiber and other fillers are filled in the polymer to achieve improved PP heat resistance, lower cost, higher rigidity, lower molding shrinkage, etc., but PP impact strength and elongation will also be reduced. Glass fiber as a kind of inorganic non-metallic whisker with excellent performance, low price, good insulation, strong heat resistance, good corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength, the application is more common, the performance of PP modified by glass fiber filling is significantly improved, but the mechanical properties of the material can be significantly improved only when the glass fiber addition amount reaches about 30%; the addition amount is too large will lead to part of the glass fiber is not fully impregnated, so that The combination of polymer matrix and glass fiber interface becomes poor, resulting in the mechanical strength of the composite material decreases, and the flowability of the composite material decreases with the increase of glass fiber addition, resulting in the difficult performance of PP molding and processing process.
