Superior Mechanical Properties
PET granules exhibit outstanding mechanical strength, with an impact resistance 3–5 times higher than other films. They also offer excellent fatigue resistance, making them ideal for demanding applications.
Chemical Resistance
PET is resistant to oils, fats, dilute acids, alkalis, and most solvents, ensuring its durability in harsh environments.
Thermal Performance
While pure PET has a relatively low heat distortion temperature of around 85°C, its thermal properties can be significantly enhanced through reinforcement. For example, glass fiber-reinforced PET exhibits mechanical properties similar to engineering plastics like PC and PA, with a heat distortion temperature of up to 225°C. PET also has excellent heat aging resistance, with a brittleness temperature of -70°C and retained toughness at -30°C. Additionally, PET is flame-resistant, burning with a yellow flame and producing minimal drips.
Barrier Properties
PET granules have low gas and water vapor permeability, providing excellent resistance to air, moisture, oils, and odors. This makes them ideal for packaging applications.

Bottle-grade PET granules are categorized based on their viscosity, which varies depending on the intended application:
- Carbonated Beverage Bottles: Viscosity of approximately 0.87 dl/g.
- Hot-Fill Beverage Bottles: Viscosity of approximately 0.78 dl/g.
- Mineral Water Bottles: Viscosity of approximately 0.80 dl/g.
- Edible Oil Bottles: Viscosity of approximately 0.83 dl/g.
