Chemical properties

PE Resins have good chemical stability and is resistant to dilute nitric acid, dilute sulfuric acid and any concentration of hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, formic acid, acetic acid, ammonia, amines, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide and other solutions at room temperature. However, it is not resistant to strong oxidizing corrosion, such as fuming sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, and mixtures of chromic acid and sulfuric acid. At room temperature the above solvents will have a slow erosion effect on polyethylene, while at 90-100℃, concentrated sulfuric acid and concentrated nitric acid will erode polyethylene rapidly, causing its destruction or decomposition. PE Resins are easily photo-oxidized, thermo-oxidized, ozone decomposed, and easily degraded under the action of ultraviolet rays, and carbon black has excellent light shielding effect on polyethylene. Reactions such as cross-linking, chain-breaking and formation of unsaturated groups can occur after exposure to radiation.

The mechanical properties of PE Resins in general, low tensile strength, creep resistance is not good, good impact resistance. Impact strength LDPE>LLDPE>HDPE, other mechanical properties LDPE crystallinity and relative molecular mass of the influence of the mechanical properties increase with the improvement of these indicators. Environmental stress cracking resistance is not good, but improves when the relative molecular mass increases. Good puncture resistance, of which LLDPE is the best.
