● Basic Characteristics: HDPE is an opaque white waxy material, specific gravity is lighter than water, specific gravity is 0.941~0.960, soft and toughness, but slightly harder than LDPE, also slightly elongated, non-toxic, odorless.

● Combustion characteristics: flammable, can continue to burn after leaving the fire, the upper end of the flame is yellow, the lower end of the blue, burning will melt, there are liquid drops, no black smoke out, at the same time, issued by the paraffin burning odor.

● Main advantages: Acid and alkali resistance, resistance to organic solvents, excellent electrical insulation, low temperature, can still maintain a certain degree of toughness. Surface hardness, tensile strength, rigidity and other mechanical strength are higher than LDPE, close to PP, tougher than PP, but the surface finish is not as good as PP.

● Main disadvantages: Poor mechanical properties, poor air permeability, easy to deform, easy to age, easy to be brittle, brittleness is lower than PP, easy to stress cracking, low surface hardness, easy to scratch. Difficult to print, printing, the need for surface discharge treatment, can not be plated, the surface has no luster.

● Applications: Extrusion of packaging films, ropes, woven bags, fishing nets, water pipes; injection molding of low-grade daily necessities and shells, non-load-bearing components, plastic boxes, crates; extrusion of blow molding containers, hollow products, bottles.

● Injection Molding Process: HDPE has countless applications ranging from reusable thin-walled beverage cups to 5-gsl cans, consuming 1/5 of domestically-produced HDPE. Injection molding grades generally have a melt index of 5 to 10, with tough, lower-flow grades and higher-flow grades for processability. Uses include daily necessities and food thin-walled packaging; tough, durable food and paint cans; high resistance to environmental stress cracking applications, such as small engine fuel tanks and 90-gal waste cans.

Injection molding, the general use of temperature 180 ℃ -230 ℃; because it is an olefin plastic, it does not absorb water, production, do not need to dry, but for product quality, can be used at a temperature of 60 ℃ drying 1hr, in order to discharge the floating water; polyethylene melt viscosity is large, the flow of long ratio is small, thin-walled products may be lack of glue, therefore, the gate and the flow channel is relatively large; products are prone to electrostatic discharge, the surface is prone to absorb the E. The shrinkage rate is 16 ‰, the overflow value of 0 05mm. The shrinkage rate is 16‰, and the value of overflow edge is 0.05mm.
